Junior Black Sox Start World Champs With Win Over Australia The Temperzone Junior Black Sox softball team have started their campaign for the Junior Mens World Championships title in Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada in the best possible way by defeating Australia 5-1 in their opening game of the tournament. Captain Vincent Harris from Waikato began the trans-Tasman contest by clearing the fence for an automatic home run on just the third pitch of the game. Wellington’s Te Kahui Bishop also hit an automatic home run later in the game. North Harbour’s Blake Radford started well on the pitching mound and worked his way through four innings before Eru Drage (Auckland) closed out the game. A key to the win was disciplined hitting from the team ensuring runners made base and were scored at the right times.
