Junior dos Santos calls Chris Weidmans second win over Anderson - TopicsExpress

Junior dos Santos calls Chris Weidmans second win over Anderson Silva at UFC 168 an accident Chris Weidman may have to fight Anderson Silva a third time since two wins over The Spider, it seems, were not enough. Everybody has given their opinion on what went down at UFC 168 on Dec. 28, 2013, when Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight titleholder Chris Weidman defeated Anderson Silva for the second straight time. And Junior dos Santos has one of his own, as well. During a recent Q & A prior to the UFC Fight Night 36 weigh-ins, Cigano was asked to give his take on Weidman; and while the former heavyweight champion recognizes All Americans skill set, he says the champs second win over The Spider was an accident. Sound familiar? Juniors words (via Guilherme Cruz): He proved hes good and beat the best of all time. (But) the last fight was an accident. Indeed, Weidmans second round technical knockout victory has been discredited by some, seeing as how the fight was stopped after Andersons leg snapped in two during a checked kick. A technique Team Weidman says was all a part of their game plan. Nevertheless, a win is a win and Weidman is now 2-0 versus the best of all time. But as Silva begins his road back to the Octagon, perhaps Chris will have another opportunity to prove his doubters wrong, JDS included. Or, maybe not. For now, Weidman has his sights sets on Vitor Belfort as he attempts to defend his 185-pound title for the second time against The Phenom at UFC 173 on May 24, 2014 in Las Vegas, Nevada . A fight All American would undoubtedly prefer to win accident free.
