Just a reminder ... from 1-3 this afternoon we are tasting a selection of beers from Sam Smith! This brewery is a longtime favorite of mine, still making beer in traditional styles and with traditional equipment for hundreds of years. In fact, within 10 miles of the brewery they still delivery beer by horse drawn cart. Aside from my historical geekery, what I love about Sam Smith (big surprise here) is the beer. It is traditional in style, and each style is a beautiful expression of its beer family. Dont be shy! Come down to Kappys, taste some Sam Smith beer and join in the 2014 Salute to Sam Smith. Sam Smith was the first craft beer imported into the United States, in 1978. It has been here since the beginning of the Craft Beer Revolution and can legitimately be credited with helping kick start the exposure of Americans to small batch, high quality beer. In 1978 there was one domestic Craft Beer brewery in the country. Now, there are around 2800. I find it interesting that 200 years later, it was the British helping start a Revolution in America...
