Just did my second ever unfriending. Like the last one, it was for overt racism, and not something I think I could have misconstrued, in light of things that person has said in the past. I try, where I can, to connect with people who are prejudiced and help them see the world more clearly, but some people dont want to learn or change, and choose willfully to make the world a harder place for all of us to live in. Its a sad phenomenon, and depressing that they can be found everywhere, even in spaces focused on human rights work. I wonder if it hurts to hate like that; it must be lonely.
