Just got back from a just over 800-mile long weekend drive (OK, 1300-KMs for my fellow Canadian Suburbanites!) visiting good friends in a few places. Mile after mile, kept bringing the smiles. The trip just reaffirms nothing beats a Suburban for seemingly shrinking the distance and making the time seem shorter to get from place to place safely and feeling so relaxed doing it. Spent a little time at one place in a friends nearly brand new imported Brand X compact car. Nope, not a chance. And to top it off, the old faithful Suburban 6.5 Turbo Diesel, being kept to 1800 RPM/67-MPH (108-KPH) averaged a little over 26 Imperial miles per gallon. And with the large fuel tanks in these trucks, one can go a long time, you have to stop way before the truck has to! I really see why Suburban owners are a close knit group and totally get it about these gentle giants.
