Just got home from a nightshift at work (which was quite fun, really), and had the most fascinating and deep conversation with the cab driver! We started off talking about books Vs. eReaders and the topic evolved into one about technology and how it is slowly taking over the world, so much so that we (the human race) alre all weaker as a result. We discussed children and their lack of stimuli and social interaction that will invariably cause a generation of socially detached, jaded individuals, who rely on technology and have zero people-skills. These people, as a result of lazy/lack lustre/laisse faire parenting, will either become sociopaths with a total lack of emotion or empathy, or they will be lazy, brain-dead sheep who aimlessly follow the system until they fall victim to it and are no longer in control of their lives. We even played Devils advocate and threw around the idea of a conspiracy theory to scare the public into always keeping their children indoors- for fear of thugs, or gun-crime, or disease or anything...only to feed the commercial technological sector by training their kids to be the biggest consumers of the industry, and thus, making the future world utterly reliable on technology- which is always controlled by a select few with select agendas. The ultimate, powerful weapon. This was the greatest conversation and definitely illustrated just how scary the very near future could be! Such an awesome journey home. I love having random deep conversations with strangers!
