Just had a really funny life-reflecting thought... Ive put up with a few comments from specific individuals over the years that Ive never given a reason to be so belligerently nasty, slating my choice of degree, stating they pity me because I was academically incapable and therefore stuck with fashion - But heres a few home truths on the subject: 1. Never pity a choice. 2. Academically incapable? Lol, okay then hun. Not that I need to justify, but Ive always worked my ass off to get good grades in all of my exams, that Im proud of! 3. I was never stuck doing this; as previously stated it was a CHOICE. One I made because Im passionate about what I do. 4. I have an amazingly supportive family whove always allowed me the freedom to do what Ive wanted - to create - never forcing me down an academic route that wouldve driven me insane (ironically enough, the route that those who pitied me went down). 5. I know there are far more important things than Fashion out there like brain surgery, finding cancer cures etc; the list is endless... But not everyone is going to be a Doctors etc, because if they were... There would be none. If it wasnt for those like-minded to me, who enjoy designing and creating, the multi-billion pound creative industries that fund huge chunks of new technologies and research projects in todays world, would collapse. Imagine walking around town - if there were no designers - there would be no Topshop, no River Island, no Zara, no H&M, no Adidas, no Nike, not even Primark. I take what I do very light-heartedly... Its just something I enjoy. And finally, just so those stick-up-their-ass individuals get a bit of perspective... Im now in China, doing what I love, and seeing new amazing things everyday; while youre stuck sat at home in Cwmbran, popping out babies and sponging off the state... So much for your mighty academic degree - Funny how Karma works like that isnt it? XOXO
