Just now arrived at the Lincoln NE AmTrak station ... train is 15-20 minutes behind schedule, so I have about a 45 minute wait ... coal trains moving slowly east (full) and west (empty) ... a train every 10-15 minutes each direction. The good news is that Lincoln Electric System (LES) has announced that will shut down the local coal-fired power plant and terminate contracts with others for a 50% reduction in emissions in the next 5 years, and wind and solar are already well under way. Friday LES is expected to announce 100 megawatts of solar is being awarded, bringing LES up to 200 MW of the 300 MW solar planned. Wind farms are in place and expanding. Local folks are working with LES on a zero emissions 15-year plan ;-) We met this morning and next meeting us January 6, the day I return to Lincoln
