Just saw CARRIE....... Decent remake. The acting starts off a bit shaky at the beginning, but by the end, everyones performance becomes quite powerful and convincing, with Julianne Moore and Chloe Grace Moretz sticking out among the rest (I guess they have to--theyre the leads); the supporting cast also does well though. This movie does, however, fall victim to the commonality among remakes in that its not as good as the original. Comparing to the 1976 film with Sissy Spacek, which had a better build up to the famous climax at the prom, this new film arguably, in certain ways, has a more satisfying, more cruel, and more tragic conclusion than the original. This movie did a good job making you feel sorry for the girl and what she goes through. Other than this, though, the movie does not offer anything new that wasnt in the original--same story, no new details, just an HD-quality retelling for the modern age. Even though this movie did shine at the end, it wasnt enough to redeem the rest or make this movie stand out as a well done horror remake (although it is decent). If youre interested in this remake, or you like the original, go see this........just dont expect it to be pure awesomeness, but dont expect it to suck either.
