Just saw Robin Williams on the cover of Time Magazine earlier - TopicsExpress

Just saw Robin Williams on the cover of Time Magazine earlier today--and many other places, of course. His movie What Dreams May Come (1998) came to mind, powerfully moving. Considering the subject matter, the movies story is even more poignant now that hes passed. When he agreed to do the movie, with all the struggles he was going through, I wonder if he hoped that the role might provide him with some degree of an emotional catharsis. [Spoiler Alert] In the movie, he dies in a car accident and goes to what is presumably heaven. His wife, still alive, feels responsible for his death and eventually takes her own life. She ends up in a dark place; her dark place, presumably her hell. The rest of the movie explains, through beautiful scenes replete with lush landscapes, swirling with color, how love can transcend even the darkest regions of the afterlife. The visuals are really incredible. The idea of an oil painting canvass is used as a metaphor for this beautiful world. (Original trailer: https://youtube/watch?v=qcDm5QfpBlE). I wish that we could somehow step into that realm (portrayed in the movie) and try to rescue him from his darkness. time/3110842/robin-williams-the-heart-of-comedy/
