Just saw the remake of RoboCop and here is my review: The cast was good but I reckon that Director Jose Padilha couldve done a bit more with the characters, the new black armour was ok but the original silver look is just too awesome to top; the story was different, not horrible, but not as good as the original but still a well writing script. The problems I have with this movie is that they introduce new characters instead of keeping the old ones not that I didnt like some of them but I prefer the originals. Some characters you dont see for much of the duration of this movie. The film can be at times a bit confusing and make you wonder what happened to some of the characters or why it is theyre in a certain situation, the new origin story was ok but defiantly no where near as good as what was done in the 1987 film. Jack Earl Haley manages to save the film with his excellent performance as Rick Mattox and Gary Oldman does the same as Doctor Dennett Norton and Michael Keaton wasnt too bad but I think he needs to choose his parts a bit more carefully; the first half of the film was a bit slow but the second half managed to quicken the pace, overall not a bad movie but defiantly not as special and amazing as the original 80s classic. Out of 5 stars I give it **** (Id like to add that I was really impressed with the camera work and I liked the little references to the original and the humour in this film)
