Just watched ZERO DARK THIRTY. Excellent film. Hard film. Honest film. Important film. I know there are people who will believe the film goes too far and reveals the "terrible" tactics which the US uses. Others will say the methods used are horrifying and beneath us. They are both wrong. They are both right, in that the tactics and methods used are terrible and horrifying, but so are those of our committed enemies. That has been demonstrated repeatedly. Should we be careful, reluctant to use such measures? Yes. Should we close Guatanamo and move the prisoners to regular prisons? Yes. Should we do more to protect the rights and lives of those who are Muslim? Yes. Still there is a place and time to destroy evil, there are places and times for CIA black ops....this was one of those times. Those of us who live in peace and safety with our clean hands and consciences, ought to be more respectful of, and grateful to, those who protect us, our families, and our way of life. I am the daughter of a man who spent his life in the military serving his country after he and his parents and siblings fled Communist Poland after World War II. They knew that freedom and safety are not easily obtained, nor are they cheaply maintained. Sometimes we must fight for it and blood will be spilled.
