Just watched the first episode of Constantine, D.C.s current attempt to bring the much loved Hellblazer character to the screen, after the uniformly derided Keanu big screen debacle. Tbh there were a couple of moments that I liked, the production values were reasonably high and they have found a lead actor more palatable in the role than Ted Logan, but overall it just didnt connect for me. Theres hints of promise in there (hello to Jeremy Davies!) but I predict a cancel after season 1 unless it really picks up next few episodes. I really hope that someone makes a genre equivalent of Breaking Bad/The Wire/The Sopranos one day, something horror or comic book that is really high quality.
