Just witnessed our first domestic violence dispute here in Korea. I heard a little girl screaming on the street and when we looked down there was a man trying to get to a 9yo or so girl with a woman stopping him. Seemed like a father, mother, daughter situation where the parents fighting lead to the father wanting to punish the mom by making the girl go home with him. The girl was crying and was obviously terrified and the man was close to hitting both of them. Joshua ran down 3 flights and he and some Scandinavian guy told the Korean guy off. Before that this guy had violently pushed both the lady and the girl on their backs in a curbside flower planter. The disturbing thing is that I tried to get another Korean guy to call the police for help but he told me that there is no problem. There were a lot of Koreans on the streets watching but NONE did anything nor said anything. Only us foreigners even yelled and cursed this guy. The Scandinavian guy told the Korean guy that if he were in his country hed be dead and Joshua told him hed be lying in the street bloody. They were able to make him go but he attacked an advertisement with his umbrella and broke it in half before he took off. When Joshua went ask a Korean shop worker what the fight was about they told him that it was no problem. Wth I hope the woman and girl dont have to go home to that tonight.
