KIP MOORE It took me a little while to get to like this next - TopicsExpress

KIP MOORE It took me a little while to get to like this next artist. It wasn’t that he was bad by any means; it was just that his songs were one’s I felt were difficult to relate to perhaps. Not only that, but his vocal was one that didn’t stand out above others when coming from the studio. However, after recently seeing him at what was deemed the “Toby Keith” concert, after he got off the stage, as far as I cared, it was the “Kip Moore” concert. As he commanded the crowd with his guitar playing and then mesmerized us with his voice shortly thereafter, I found myself falling in love with Kip’s music. It wasn’t until one of his new songs, “Unless Heaven’s Got a Dirtroad” that I straight up went crazy for the guy. Kip Moore is relatively new to the country scene, having only been around mainstream since 2012. Hailing from Georgia, like other well-known country artists, Moore found his musical stride in college, but took a sabbatical after graduating and headed for Hawaii to be a surf bum and backpacker. After apparently finding himself, he moved to Nashville in the mid 2000’s and soon got himself a publishing deal. For those of you who are unaware, a publishing deal is different from signing with a label, but after four years of laying low in Nashville, MCA Nashville records took a chance on the budding newcomer. Moore then released his first single in early 2011, “Mary Was The Marrying Kind” which debuted at #58 on the Hot Country Songs chart, and later peaked at #45. Shortly after this, Moore released his second-ever single, “Somethin’ Bout a Truck” which became his staple as an artist. This song went all the way to #1 on the Hot Country chart and was the predecessor to the release of his debut album, “Up All Night.” The next song to come off this album was the popular “Beer Money” which struck chords with younger listeners and earned Moore yet another Top Ten hit, peaking at #7 on the Hot Country chart and #3 on Country Airplay. Lastly, and more recently, Moore released “Hey Pretty Girl”, his tender ballad that found its way into the Top Ten once again, peaking at #8 on Hot Country Charts, while making it all the way to #2 on the Country Airplay chart. Just recently, last month in fact, Moore announced his sophomore album will be released soon. His first single, “Young Love” has yet to make it to the airwaves. Nevertheless, Moore is in the same category as Thomas Rhett, an artist who has had a few good songs, but has yet to distinguish themselves as country music powerhouses. One thing is for sure, if his next album is anything like his first was, we will be seeing a lot of Kip to come.
