KTUL reporter Charles Ely and his news production team did an excellent awareness-raising story that aired today on the URGENT medical situation of little Jonah Steinmetz, a precious baby boy who is need of cannabidiol to help control his debilitating, developmentally impairing seizures. His family is understandably frustrated by the virtual stonewalling of their needs by the Oklahoma Legislature. Even though only Senator Dan Newberry replied to mom Sonya Steinmetzs email, this Chair of the Commerce and Business Committee deliberately kept SB 2116 from passing through and effectively KILLED it. This issue needs a lot of positive press while volunteers for Oklahoma for Health are collecting signatures for a medical marijuana petition initiative RIGHT NOW so the question will be eligible to be placed on the ballot in November. Fox 23 has covered the similar medical needs of baby Jaqie Angel and a fundraiser is planned to Support Jaqie Angel and her family for July 13 at LaFortune Park in Tulsa. We appreciate your both newsrooms inclusiveness on the issue of the legality of medical marijuana. I hope that KTUL will continue to carry Jonahs banner.
