Karen Kirchel here are 12 things about me. Maybe more detail than was intended by the game.... 12 Things about me: 1) I was born in Trinidad, West Indies 2) Came to the USA when I was about 2 ½ 3) Became a Naturalized US Citizen when I was 18 4) Became a member of the Bahá’í Faith the same year 5) First laid eyes on the man who would become my husband on the same day as #4 6) I have sung in a choir comprised of members of the Bahá’í Faith from all over the world: A concert at Carnegie Hall with over 500 singers, a concert at Ryman Auditorium (formerly Grand Ole Opry House) in Nashville – about 150 singers. 7) Concert tour with 75-people version of the same choir, including a small band, in the Caribbean: Santa Domingo, Dominican Republic (we rehearsed and stayed at a resort nearby for about a week, then gave a small concert at the resort and a large concert the next day in Santa Domingo); San Juan, Puerto Rico; Caracas, Venezuela; Port-of-Spain, Trinidad, West Indies (this was the main attraction for my wanting to go on the tour. However, due to a delay of departure from Caracas, we arrived in Trinidad in the dark. Then we left in the dark. We performed our concert in the hotel where we staying. So-o-o-o all I got to see of Trinidad was out of the windows in the hotel.); two concerts in Kingston, Jamaica; the last performance was in Coral Springs, Florida. Along the way some dear soul had contracted and spread a strep infection. I fell victim to it and by the time we go to Florida, my voice was so bad that if I had known the notes I could probably have sung bass instead of my usual soprano. 8) Gave birth to three children – girl, boy, girl 9) Our oldest child, who is now 48, has had special needs most of her life. She has out-lived life expectancy for people with her disorder by nearly 30 years. 10) Worked for the US Government for 22 years. 11) After that I tried my hand at providing organizing services. Didn’t hustle enough, so it fizzled. 12) On June 12th next year I will have been married for 50 years to a wonderful, one-in-a-million guy. Fun little game floating around FB. Anyone that likes my status and wants to play, I will give you a number and you have to post that many things about yourself.
