Kentucky Weather Blog: I am declaring a severe alert weather day for I-64 and south until Noon tomorrow! With the threat of Freezing rain, and freezing drizzle, over 0.25 and the rain already falling to freeze late tonight, I have reasons to believe, it will be a dangerous night across Eastern Kentucky. Especially after 8p.m., tonight. A Freezing Rain Advisory is in effect for most of Eastern Kentucky from 8:00 PM Monday until 10:00 AM on Tuesday. Areas of freezing rain and drizzle as well as rapidly falling temperatures into the lower 20s will cause very slick roadways to develop after 8:00 PM tonight. Driving during this time period is not advised, but if you must do so use extreme caution and go very slow. Do NOT slam the breaks if you start to lose control of your vehicle and do not over correct. Let it coast through the slick spot, and pull off the road, turn around, and try your best to get back home. The road conditions should improve by Tuesday afternoon as temperatures warm into the lower 30s under mostly cloudy skies. We will see more cloudy days on Wednesday and Thursday with highs in the mid to upper 30s and lows in the mid 20s. Friday features sunshine and highs in the lower 40s. We should see 50s on Saturday and Sunday with a mix of sun and clouds. A late day rain shower cant be ruled out on Sunday. Share this if youd like! Be safe tonight, if you see any ice on the road, report it so others know! You can tell me, Or just call 9-1-1! Soon-to-be-Meteorologist Chris Hall
