Kind of long post, but this is a crazy story. If you have visited our house recently, youve noticed the towing business at the intersection with Beacon Ave. First came the fence with prison-grade topping of beveled chain link and sharp wire. Next, metal storage lockers partially in the road for months. One of their giant trucks parked inches from the intersection, causing so many near-accidents that city parking enforcement was a regular fixture on our street for a while. They knocked down the stop sign (because of course they did.) The construction and debris and those weird lockers were everywhere. So many more incidents that would take too long to recount. The guys: I think they were Russian. They seemed not to know that doing regular truck maintenance _in an intersection_ was scary for drivers negotiating an acute angle intersection. Not to mention dangerous to themselves. We hoped we wouldnt hit one of them every time we came around that corner. It wasnt clear to any of us how many houses they had purchased: just the two? Or did they own the one across the street too? When were they going to get things squared away? Today I learned from Dylan. They were squatters! Our awesome neighbor Claude found out the deal. So, a reminder to stay involved in neighborhood events. And a shout-out in support of Claude Burfect: on your ballots now for 37th district State Senate.
