Know Your SG (Pest Exterminator - cheaper alternative) For one reason or another, many of us hate/fear rats, cockroaches and geckos. Recently we came across incidents of massive rat infestation in some parts of SG. In reality rats exist everywhere and I am not surprised even where I live, you get an occasional squeaking sound in the garden. Likewise for cockroaches and geckos. We can turn to private pest exterminators for a fee or the NEA (complain, complain & complain) even if you find one small creature (making you uncomfortable) in your environment. As you might already know, spraying too much pesticides and wats not can sometimes carry unwanted consequences. My solution? My pet. If I find a cockroach in the shower, I let him go. BANG. The poor cockroach gets crushed instantly (Did I hear a line from Masters of the Seas TV serial). The pet is so good that it can smell the burrows of the rats - makes my job easier to destroy the nest before it becomes worse. OK now we see this fellow in action - geckos. One word of caution though. If you want to adopt a cat, please find a young one. Old ones get lazy and dont bother!
