Know in advance this is a long post... Not meant for all to read, just for the ones that need to hear it. I am not what most would call a religious person. Judge or stereotype me if you feel the need. I am comfortable with my relationship with God. Not as devote to one church or another, but as a Christian. And so my story begins. Heavy hearted the zoo and I cruised home from the farm tonight. Just outside of Norwalk an oncoming car flashed his lights. I looked ahead and saw he was warning me about a giant snapping turtle ahead in my lane. As I put my flashers on and pulled over to the crossroad the kids were already coaching me on how to get it out of the road safely. (Turtle Man has trained them well) I open my door and hop out headed towards the beauty, as I grabbed jaspers training tunnel out of the back of the truck to scoop him up and move him to safety. I look ahead to see a big duel wheel headed right towards him. No brakes applied. No attempt to miss him... as he was almost to the side line at this point with no oncoming traffic. Senseless. Brutal. How was I going to explain this to my children?!? It turns out I didnt have to. One thing I taught them covers it all. It wasnt meant to be. And they understood the answer. There is a reason for everything in this world. Sometimes the reasons are unclear. Maybe this time, God chose to sacrifice the turtle to save the man behind the wheel. Maybe God chose to sacrifice the turtle to keep me from being the one in the middle of a busy highway in pieces. We all have challenges we face every day. Love, life, death, sickness, health, His decisions arent always clear, or might not feel just, but know no matter what the circumstances, He does them out of love for those that hold Him in their hearts.
