Knowledge from yesterday: Often, yesterday’s insights and knowledge is applicable on today situations. So, Sun Tzu is applicable, Sun Tzu providing the following lines: “There are five ways to attack by fire: The first is to burn men; the second is to burn supplies; the third is to burn equipment; the fourth is to burn warehouses; the fifth is to burn lines of communication.” (Sun Tzu, The Art of War) This statement equals in some ways the modern MIDLIFE. “Attack by fire requires means; the material must be ready.” (Sun Tzu, The Art of War) One essential thing in warfare is preparation, to pave the way appropriately. “There are season for making a fire; there are days for lighting a flame.” (Sun Tzu, The Art of War) Timing is a crucial point in this field, the field of warfare: hit the point with all your concentrated measures, and you will be successful. “The proper days are when the moon is in Sagittarius, Pegasus, Crater, Corvus. These are the four constellations of rising wind.” This final statement, stemming from this particular sequence in The Art of War, equals today’s “knowledge”: “know your enemy and know yourself.” Conclusively, these four points, mentioned above, are essential, even nowadays: MIDLIFE, preparation, timing, and knowledge, although there were authored more than 2,000 years ago.
