Kuchh to Duniya Ki Inayaat Ne Dil Tod Diya, notes S Gopala - TopicsExpress

Kuchh to Duniya Ki Inayaat Ne Dil Tod Diya, notes S Gopala Krishnan (on his FB timeline today): Says, last year we got an opportunity to talk to Ms Anjali Benerji, disciple of Begum Akhtar and while discussing many facets of the singer, I asked, is it true that she was a lonely person ? Anjali Banerji: I do not understand in what way she was lonely, unless you are referring to the loneliness of the spirit. She had a family, indeed, she had several extended families, and everyone doted on her. I never saw her sitting alone. She had innumerable friends who loved her company and was always surrounded by several of them at a time. Many of them were accomplished raconteurs, as was she herself. Whenever she was on a concert tour, her hotel room would resound with laughter and merry conversation. After she died, and we were returning from the burial in the gathering dusk, leaving her in her lonely resting place at Pasand Bagh (in Lucknow), I was overcome by the sadness of leaving this lively woman, who loved the company of people, on her own. Poignant memories of the wonderful times spent in her lively presence kept me awake all night. “Kuchh to Duniya Ki Inayaat Ne Dil Tod Diya” : youtube/watch?v=m36FE9x5rXo Begum Akhtar...
