Kunzite is a member of the Spodumene family. It can be found in a variety of shades of pale lilac and green - called Hiddenite. The pink to lilac colors come from minor to trace amounts of manganese. Kunzite was discovered in 1902, and was named after George Frederick Kunz, Tiffany & Co‘s chief jeweller at the time, and a noted mineralogist. It has been found in Brazil, USA, Canada, CIS, Mexico, Sweden, Western Australia, Afghanistan and Pakistan. Many Kunzites fade when exposed to sunlight which is why it is dubbed the evening stone. Kunzite is used in Crystalogy for the Heart Chakra to reduce anxiety and alleviate feelings of panic. Its benefits extend to strengthening the immune system, the circulatory system and the heart muscle.
