Released on 14th July, it’s the follow-up to his debut EP “The Purple Experiment”, a record that was described as “an immaculate confection” by Clash, and The Sunday Times said “the music more than justifies the hype”. Mixing socially aware lyrics with cutting edge musical future-soul, he is set to be a breakout star in 2014. “Taking The City” feeds off a revolutionary fervour and demonstrates the social conscience that is an important part of Kyan’s lyrical sensibility. The track features an almost classic soul vocal, backed with scorching guitar as Kyan sings of taking from the rich and giving to the poor. The track was produced by Kyan with additional production by Mark Ralph (Hot Chip, Jagwar Ma). Kyan supported Keisza at her XOYO show on Tuesday 3rd June & recently he supported AlunaGeorge and London Grammar on their nationwide tour and appeared at The Great Escape in Brighton.
