Kære Alle Der er nu udarbejdet et brev på engelsk(oversat version af Bassahs brev), til alle verdens nationer, i håb om at opnå fokus og humanitær hjælp fra omverdenen! DEL DEL DEL! 04-08-2014 A CRY FOR HUMANITARIAN HELP! On August 3rd 2014, it happened once again. A new attempt to purge the world of the religious minority called the Yezidies, took place in the city of Sinjar/Shingal in Iraq. Up until 20-30 years ago, Europe was largely unaware of the existence of the Yezidi-religion and its followers. Approximately 10.000 Yezidies fled from Turkey, Iraq and Syria to Europe because of the continuing oppression, discrimination and wars they suffered at the hands of governments and various fanatic Islamic groups. As they first began to flee from Turkey in the 1980’s and later on from Syria and Iraq in the 1990’s, the world was slowly becoming aware of their existence and faith. Older than Judiasm, Christianity and Islam, the religion has existed for thousands of years. The Yezidi-religion was the original Kurdish religion and thereby originally also the prevalent religion before the advent of Islam. As Islam reached the Kurdish regions, the majority of Kurds where forced to to convert to Islam. Frequently, the choice would stand between converting to Islam and being murdered. Faced with this choice, many Yezidies would take refuge in nearby mountainous areas, and this has once again been their choice as recent events have unfolded. As a result of this history, the Yezidies are currently spread all over the world, with approximately 1.5-2 million Yezidies internationally. The majority of the Yezidies lives in Iraq. In Europe there are about 100.000 Yezidi-refugees, and the majority of these (over 80.000) live in Germany. Yezidies are considered infidels and devil worshipers, according to Islam, in spite of the fact that Yezidism is the world’s oldest monistic religion. The extremist and Islamic group IS (previously know as ISIS), is currently attempting once again to purge Iraq of the Yezidies. Men and children are being liquidated. Women on the other hand are being kidnapped. Then they are being brutally violated and forced to convert to Islam. Yet it simply does not end here for these wretched souls. After suffering these monstrosities, they are executed. On August 4th 2014, 2000 Yezidies were reported dead, simply because they refused to covert to Islam. Several hundreds of thousands of Yezidies have now taken refuge in the mountains of Sinjar/Shingal and are currently staying there. Thousands of Yezidies are missing and have lost all contact to the rest of the world during their escape. Their destiny is uncertain and a humanitarian crisis is now forming. The refugees are starving and freezing to death in the mountain areas. 300.000 Yezidies are without access to the most basic resources as water and food. In addition to this, many Yezidies have lost their lives during the escape. Yezidi-families who reside in Europe, The United States etc. have in vain tried to gain telephonic contact with their families in Iraq. Instead they have been met by IS rebels or the sound of the screams of their loved ones. There are currently being held large protests and demonstrations in countries such as Germany, to support the Yezidies case. Several news stations such as BBC, The Washington Post, The New Yorker etc. have covered the catastrophic situation of the Yezidies. Several Kurdish and Arabic news stations are also monitoring the situation very closely. We are screaming for humanitarian help. We ask for the United Nations, The United States and the entire worlds support. We are loosing our families and our homes. We are loosing the most vital human right – the right to exist. We request the assistance of the world to create awareness of the situation of the Yezidies. Yezidies are dying. Humans are being murdered! There is an urgent and vital need for international support. This letter is written on behalf of all Yezidies, both inside and outside Denmark. #WeAreAllShingal
