LETTER OF CONDOLENCE ON THE PASSING OF PASTOR LEWIS OF THE S.D.A. FAITH COMMUNITY 28th June, 2013 Dear Saints of God, It is said that the true measure of the magnitude of a tall tree can only be known when it is felled and lies beneath our feet. If that is true, then Saint Lucia, in particular the Seventh Day Adventist community in St. Lucia and the wider Caribbean has discovered that a soaring giant has fallen in our forest. Today, individuals who have lived within the blessed shade of the impact of Pastor Alfred Lewis give witness to a personal and spiritual upheaval, even as we humbly acknowledge his loss. Pastor Lewis fully comprehended that one of the greatest positions in all the earth is the ministering to the needs of the people as an Ambassador of the Lord. Into the hands of this bold man of God, the responsibility of matters of life and death fell. He was responsible for the eternal destiny of the human spirit, both for time and eternity. He was charged with the task of providing for people’s hope, happiness and heavenly life. Pastor Lewis took this responsible seriously and he served with pride and dignity. We in Saint Lucia may have lost someone dear to us, but God understands our grief. Remember…God lost His Son! God experienced the darkness of death and grief when Christ died on the Cross. But God also knows the joys of the Resurrection, that reunion when all God’s chosen are gathered together for eternity. And so God says to us today, on Pastor Lewis’ behalf, through the Words of His Son: “Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; Not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.” (John 14:27). Do not be despair Church. We will see Pastor Lewis on the Resurrection Day. I extend my deepest condolences to the Lewis family and the Seventh Day Adventist Community. I am sorry that I am not here with you owing to a national engagement, but I am with you in spirit. May God continue to guide and Bless you. Yours Sincerely, HON. EMMA HIPPOLYTE
