LOIS UPDATE!! We apologize for the delay in getting out an update on her, but we wanted to be sure we had correct information before we put it out. We know there are many, many people worried about her!! Lois transfusion has, at least temporarily, reduced her level of anemia and her red blood cell count is now in the mid-twenties. Although that is very good news and has made her feel better, as you can see, well enough to take a stroll around Everglades Animal Hospital , she is by no means out of the woods. The concern is whether her tiny body can maintain the blood count. Her massive tumor is what has caused this anemia and Dr. Weman cannot safely remove the tumor if she is anemic. He is hopeful that she can hold her own and will be strong enough to undergo surgery in the early part of the week. We are confident that she could not be in better hands.
