LOOK THEM IN THE EYE. A wise friend of mine, Paul Boulos, educated me to the fact that the average American could dress from his/her closet for ten years without buying another garment. I looked in my closet and thought back over the decades of family shopping, eyeballing closets full of stuff seldom worn. Human nature. A wonderful Italian woman, Lana Battagello, spiritually driven, asked her friends years ago to open their closets and give away a coat or two....so she could drive to where poor people live.....look each in the eye...and give them a coat. She will not tolerate looking the other way. She is both a giver and a do it now person. Its easy to dismiss, ignore, despise, or rebuff beggars and street people. I am guilty of that. I think get a job or Im not buying you any more booze or, worse, Im too busy and add steam to my step. Its scientifically established that man can live about 40 days without food, 3 days without water......but how long can we live without compassion? Lana has been gathering and giving for years. Without doubt that effort saved lives and provided comfort. Take a look at this link, think about it, and if it moves you share it. Heres a worthy resolution: Take an extra coat with you this year.....if you see someone cold and in need look them in the eye and enjoy a moment of compassion. youtu.be/z3gEP-s_llQ
