LOOKING FOR ACTORS! 1. WHO WE ARE The Glasgow Film Crew is group of independent filmmakers, mostly from Glasgow who get together and voluntarily produce and make films. The group is currently a not for profit organisation. 2. THE PROJECT Rainbow Cups is a sci fi survival thriller based around an incident of chance. Following the fall of modern society, survivors jostle to find their new place in the world. One such group of survivors have chosen a life in hiding, living out in the wilds and surviving off raids of nearby abandoned towns. After one such raid, one survivor challenges the others to game of ‘rainbow cups’, an old and peculiar game. Little do they know that the game itself may be pivotal to their survival in the next ten minutes... 3. WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR We are currently looking for male and female actors, age between 20 and 40 years old, for a short (10-15 minutes) film production. We are looking for experienced as well as amateur actors. Due to the fact that the Glasgow Film Crew is a voluntary organisation, all actors wanting to audition must understand that the work will be unpaid, however it provides an opportunity to gain experience for those who want work in the film industry. All expenses will be paid. Character breakdown: Major Roles Jessica (Female, 16-25): Lead. Jessica is young but resilient. She is thrown head on into a sink or swim scenario, where she must act quickly and decisively in order to survive. Jerry (Male, 25-35): Jerry is the leader of a group of armed fanatics who attack Jessica and her group. He is arrogant and hot headed but also commands a certain respect and authority from most people he encounters. Stan (Male, 21-55): Stan is Jerry’s second in command but, unlike most, has little fear or respect for Jerry. He is a nihilistic joker who will belittle and bully people seemingly out of boredom more than anything else. He does not share Jerry’s desire for authority or his childish/insecure temper. Miranda (Female, 16-35): Jessica’s older sister. Miranda is much rougher round the edges than her younger sister and has considerably more life experience in the ‘new world’. Through dream-like flashbacks, Jessica remembers what her sister used to say about surviving in the ‘new world’. James (Male, 18-30): James is one of Jessica’s group and the one who originally brings out and explains “Rainbow Cups”. He is innocent and naive with a crush on Jessica. Minor Roles Walter (Male, 35-50): Walter is one of Jessica’s group. He is cautious, snappy and concerned for the group’s wellbeing. He is probably the wisest and most experienced member of the group, but does not command respect for it. Alice (Female, 18-30): Alice is one of Jessica’s group. She is cautious and sides with Walter. Giles (Male, 21-40): Giles is one of the Jerry’s group. He is a follower of the pack with a low rank, and takes orders from Stan. Giles, along with Robin, are generally intimidated by Jerry, although both also admire Stan and are keen to impress him. Stan is the only person that gives them both courage against Jerry. Robin (Male, 21-40): Robin is also one of the gunmen. Like Giles, he is also a follower with a low rank who takes orders from Stan. Robin and Giles are keen to assimilate and admire their superiors. 4. WHERE & WHEN? The audition will be held on Sunday 28 of July at La Bodega 1120 South Street Glasgow Scotland G14 0 United Kingdom This is a short film (10-15 minutes) to be shot over two days in one location, with an additional shooting day at a second location for Jessica and Miranda. The filming is planned to take place on 17th and 18th of August 2013, therefore interested actors must be available in the last three weekends of August, 2013. 5.
