LOVE the deal. The Washington Nationals got a player better - TopicsExpress

LOVE the deal. The Washington Nationals got a player better than Danny Espinosa to play second while Ryan Zimmerman is out (again), and in return gave up a player who is currently worse than Espinosa at this point in time. The Nats are in win-now mode, so giving up a prospect in Walters and keeping the experience in Espinosa to strengthen the bench and be a situational player is the right decision. Cabrera is a solid everyday player and should make us better right away hitting at the bottom of the lineup while Zim is out. His glove is pretty slick, too. And when Zim returns, I think Matt Williams has set a precedent that Zim will return to third for the rest of this season because his bat has been so critical in our lineup. The long term solution of moving him to first is also still viable (I think LaRoche walks after this year), as wed be bringing back Espinosa to play second and could try to bring back Cabrera depending on what he does over the next two months (and hopefully in October as well). For now I am just hoping Cabrera can gel with our team as quickly as possible - especially with Desmond in the double play connection. Once he and Desi get into a groove and Cabrera finds a niche in our lineup (likely the 8-hole) the Nats are as dangerous in every area of the ballclub as any club in the NL. This move really has me excited because it shows real urgency to go after the crown THIS YEAR! #Natitude
