LUKLA:Situated in the Himalayan region and a beautiful tourist area, Lukla is the main gateway to Mount Everest. Lukla is one of the renowned tourism sites that looks like a small valley and is lying in chourikharak VDC-8, of Solukhumbu district. The gateway to Sagarmatha Base Cap, Lukla Bazar is at an altitude of 2800m and from here Namche Bazar can be reached by 5-6 hours walk. Lukla gets first priority for observing various activities of Himalayan region and the trekking of Sagarmatha Base Camp. Lukla gets filled with tourists during the peak season. Tourists looking for short trekking route take a flight to Lukla and reach Kalapathhar from There while some others start their trekking from Jiri to reach Lukla. Trekkers spend a night at Lukla and while other go to Namchhe to shorten the route. Air transport is the only others means to reach Lukla due to the lack of roads there. One can reach Tenjing Hillary Airport of Lukla by taking a half and hour flight from International Airport of Kathmandu. The distance of 188 km from Kathmandu to Jiri and a trekking of 6 to 7 days from jiri one can reach Lukla. Usually flights take place between 7 am to 12 noon as sky in the afternoon gets covered with fog and dust. Lukla is like a heaven on earth. One can have a breathtaking view of Mt. Kongo and other Himalayan range on a clear day. It gets very cold here due to its altitude and one needs to make a proper arrangement of warm clothes and thick shoes for the journey . The price of food items is generally high as the air transport is the only means of supplying food.
