Labels such as "Hispanic", "Latino", "Mestizo", Chicano" etc. are colonial terms assigned to the original Indigenous people of the Americas and their descendents by the European Conquistadors. These terms were designed to categorically divide and rank people according to skin color and the amount of "White blood" in their veins. These terms do not reflect any true representation of the "racial" or cultural identity of the Indigenous populations that comprise the majority of people living in Central or South America and Mexico. Nican Tlaca is the more acceptable and historically accurate term.
