Laikipia Security Security in Weru ini village in Laikipia central district has been beefed up after an administration police post was put up in the area through the help of Laikipia East constituency development fund. The post will serve Kibubung’I and Mitero residents following increased cases of insecurity where six people have been killed by criminals in the region and others injured in the past two years. Speaking when he toured the police post Laikipia east Mp Mutahi Kimaru noted that four officers who will be commanded by a sergeant major will occupy the camp while more efforts were being done to increase the number of house for more officers. Kimaru said that for a very long time residents in the region have not benefited from government projects but it is the high time they were included in the development agenda in the constituency. However they accused the police boss in the region for giving them “rejected” officers from other regions singling out cases of drunkenness. They called to be given officer who can fight illicit brew in the area instead of those who would work with criminals. At the same time the MP issued CDF cheques worth one million shillings to Mitero and Kabanga primary schools for construction of classroom and noted that the same kitty will help build a water tank at a cost of 10 million shillings which will serve the entire Tigithi ward.
