Below is the current FORECAST to start the new [short] week throughout our regions. *********************************************** This is the Official Forecast for Monday 21st of April 2014 for Gladstone to Cooktown and west to Mt Isa. *********************************************** Queensland Warning Summary at issue time - - Marine Wind Warning Summary for Queensland. Tropical Cyclone Warnings and Information - - There is 1 active system: Severe TC Jack, far off the West Australian coast, likely to weaken from late Sunday. >>Please check the Bureaus web site for details of the above and all latest Qld warnings information - bom.gov.au/qld/warnings Weather Situation - A surface trough extends from the Gulf Country towards the southern interior of Queensland. Another trough lies to the north of Cape York Peninsula. A high pressure system over southeastern Australia is moving slowly eastwards, and extends a ridge through Queensland. A relatively dry airmass is in place across most of Queensland. Forecast for the rest of Sunday - Fine and clear over most of the state. Isolated showers about the north tropical coast. Scattered showers and possible thunderstorms over the far north. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times over northern Queensland. Monday 21 April - Fine and sunny over most of the state. Isolated showers about the northern tropics and tropical coast, becoming scattered about the north tropical coast. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Peninsula district. Isolated showers developing later about the central coast. Light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, fresh at times over northern Queensland. Tuesday 22 April - Moist easterly flow combined with the slow moving trough over the far north will continue to produce at least scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms over the northern tropics. Isolated showers and thunderstorms should also occur over the remainder of the northern tropics as an upper trough moves into western Queensland. More isolated showers are likely to continue along the tropical east coast and extend southwards towards the Capricornia coast. Wednesday 23 April - Moist easterly flow will combine with the weakening surface trough over the far north of the state, producing scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms. The upper trough should move into eastern Queensland while weakening, with showers along most of the east coast, mainly in the central and tropical areas. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the remainder of northern Queensland.
