Last Sunday was very special with 2 very keen bird watchers from Brisbane visiting the forest and seeing the Albert Lyrebird (Favourite Boy). The wind was very wicked (strong and cold!) which can unsettle the birds but there was no reason to be concerned. He displayed for about 20 minutes, visible through binoculars, and then proceeded to sing and feed as he walked up the slope towards us. A female Lyrebird joined him for a short period before he went to another display platform whereupon he displayed for 40 minutes! Unfortunately the second platform was not visible but the singing was outstanding. We also managed not to be seen by a red necked pademeon which hopped past. If he had seen us he would have warned the Lyrebird with some warning thumps and the show would have been over.
