Visual Thinking: Turning Landscape into Colour 3 - 26 March Camden Arts Centre Turning Landscape into Colour is a research project led by Onya McCausland with contributions from Dr. Spike Bucklow, Dr. Ruth Siddall and Jo Volley. The project investigates the origins of earth pigments - ochres - in the landscape and considers their significance as contemporary cultural materials. McCausland has invited researchers from different disciplines and institutions to contribute their specialist knowledge, insight and expertise over three weeks. Collected earths will be transformed into ochre pigment and finally paint. There will be a series of related open studios, talks, demonstrations and screenings of recordings of material processes and by the end of the month a series of brand new artists paints will be manufactured. Turning Landscape into Colour has been programmed in response to themes within the current exhibitions of landscape and transformation.
