Last month I had never heard of Neil Peart, the drummer in the band Rush, whose music I never listen to. Then I listened to the audio book versions of two of his books, Ghost Rider and Roadshow. Yesterday I started on Traveling Music. Peart is a terrific travel writer. We do have a few things in common. We are exactly the same age. We both are shy around people we dont know, and are wall flowers at parties. We both like to take long motorcycle trips. One thing I learned from Pearts books is that my Yamaha FJR is a better bike than his BMW, unless you really like to frequently hang around the dealer getting a bunch of minor failures fixed. Important safety tip: If you are at the BMW dealer and see Neil Peart waiting for them to fix his speedometer or put out the latest literal fire on his GS, DO NOT APPROACH HIM!!! He hates being outed as a superstar. Having watched some of his drum solos on Youtube, I have to say he is a superstar of drumming for sure.
