Last night I drove by a man standing in the middle of the street - TopicsExpress

Last night I drove by a man standing in the middle of the street at the intersection of Jubilee and Osborne. The man was clearly distressed shouting and charging toward oncoming cars. I called 911 immediately and asked that they send someone over to talk to him. This morning, an officer called me to inform me that the man jumped off the bridge before the police arrived and has not been found. He also told me that of all the people that drove by him before he jumped, I was the only person to call for help. I can`t help but feel that if someone who drove past him before I did called for help - just maybe the police would have been able to get there sooner to help this young man. I am very angry and saddened to know that so many people did not, for whatever reasons that I can`t ever imagine, make a 1 minute phone call after seeing someone so clearly distressed. If you see that someone is going through a hard time, help him or her in any way you can. It`s your business. It`s your responsibility as a human being. It`s called kindness, compassion, and empathy. Human Fail.
