Last night in Tahoe. Sara Grace Lingafelter is prepping a curried - TopicsExpress

Last night in Tahoe. Sara Grace Lingafelter is prepping a curried salmon dish and the weather has shifted just left of perfect with there being a slight mist after a week of sun and brisk. We managed this cabin east of Squaw, a dot couples Tahoe retreat above Bear Creek. The creek runs through the backyard and below a deck; I sunbathed on its outcropped boulders today while Cayde went tad-poling in the lesser-eddying pools. The wind white-capped the Lake today and--similarly--the clouds were whipped into strata, dissipating neatly into blue sky. This cabin is amazing: the owners are design consultants while also owning a ceramic business, which means the house makes for some tony digs. A short walk leads to a private swimming hole with a short beach and pillared islands mid-swim. There are reeds and exclamation-point dragonflies, bracingly cold water and makeshift paddleboards provided. Granite rims the neighborhood, fairly sheer walls with empty ski-lift Ts--no wires or gondolas--just crossbeams and occasional snow patches. Its been ideal. 80 degree sun, 50 degree water. I should also mention this cabin has a sauna, which makes me, at least, blissfully happy. Tahoe is bees-knees.
