Last night, some representatives of the Avanti Schools Trust as well as some devotees from the Manor in Watford and Soho were invited to Anil Agarwals home in London. Anil is the chairman of The Vedanta Group, and is a keen supporter/well-wisher of the Manor & Avanti Schools Trust (AST). AST currently run 4 schools in the UK, with more in the pipeline and were the first to start a Hindu faith/values based state school that is fully funded by the Government. All the schools are currently overscribed, and the schools focus on the core of Spirituality,Character Building and Academic Excellence. Krishna Avanti in Harrow was visited and commended by Her Majesty The Queen at the start of her Jubilee celebrations, and the Trust also has a tie up with Cambridge University as part of their excellence to Teacher Training. We need more people like Anil to come forward and support the schools and share their networks and expertise in any international locations like the Middle East, Africa, Mauritius etc where an Indian diaspora currently exists, (although the school is very open and welcomes children of all faiths and where currently a misconception still lays). The school employs the very best teachers, many of whom have come from prestigious schools previously and worked closely with Ofsted etc, but whom believe in the concept which certainly did not exist when I was at school... Work is already underway in India to look at the opening of the first overseas Avanti School...Exciting times:) The type of work involved will include working with Ministries of Education, appointing building contractors/architects, helping with land acquisition, deploying local teams in those regions, funding etc.. If you know anyone both here or Internationally that would be keen to support the International Development of the Avanti School & Brand, or support any PR/Sponsorship Initatives either in the UK or Internationally then please get in touch with me... I will sending more details on a regular basis in due course but for me personally - it is a blessing to be involved in helping shape tomorrows leaders in some small way and help tackle the problems the world is currently facing.
