Last night, while watching Emma Thompson fall apart and collect herself in one short scene, I realized that she is maybe the only actress who can destroy me by crying on screen. Examples: 1) The Both Sides Now scene in Love, Actually; 2) Her cry when Hugh Grant reveals his true feelings for her in Sense and Sensibility; 3) Her as P.L. Travers, weeping as she watches Mary Poppins onscreen in Saving Mr. Banks. If you havent seen these films, you should. They should be required studies for all actors. Shes brilliant.
