Last week was Vacation Bible School at First Baptist Greenwood. Great week… Brother Tracey Epting wrote the curriculum. Sets were built, songs planned, puppets performed, and the sound effects seemed real; all about Daniel in the lions’ den and how he stayed faithful in the face of being fed to lions. My granddaughter, Alli worried about the lions, she was sure they were real and in the church with us. Throughout the week kids brought their money and placed it in buckets to see which leader would be fed to the lions at week’s end. King “Eric” Fletcher was the winner/loser and was put in the lions’ den during the program at parent’s night. He was not eaten but was “mauled” by the mangy critters and came out of the den with some white stringy goo all over. When the program was completed Alli wanted me to go with her to view the beasts. I took her little hand in mine, explaining again that the lions weren’t real in the church. We started across the auditorium and were about half way to the door when she took her hand from mine, pushed me from behind and said, “You go first.” Guess she figured if she had a head start and could out run me, she’d be safe.
