Later today, the people of our very fortunate island nation would know exactly who would lead them into the future, and even as we write, there is hardly any doubt about the fact that the incumbent, despite the hard-headed prejudices of the detractors and the international media, is almost guaranteed a comfortable victory. At the time of writing there didnt seem to be anything to indicate much to the contrary. The district level sampling of opinion indicated, before the polls, that the 57 per cent that the President scored in 2010 was so substantial that it is for all practical purposes improbable that his challenger could whittle down 7 percentage points to score a victory, even by the narrowest of margins, at this outing. An opposition victory as we write, seems to be a figment of the imaginations of various interested parties, much in the same way that dire predictions of a violent election was one of their darker fantasies as well.
