Latest BoM 3 day Cyclone Outlook Sunday 4th January 2014. Potential Cyclones: An active monsoon trough stretches from waters south of Indonesia to the northern Kimberley, where a low has formed over land. The low is moving slowly westwards. The risk of a tropical cyclone is dependent on whether the low moves over open water for long enough. The most likely track keeps this low over land or too close to the coast to allow development. The risk is held at Moderate for Tuesday and Wednesday due to uncertainty about movement of the low. Even if this low does not develop into a cyclone, the strong monsoon is expected to bring squally thunderstorms and heavy rainfall to the northern and western Kimberley over the next week. Please refer to flood warnings at bom.gov.au/wa/warnings Likelihood of this system being a tropical cyclone in the Western Region on: Monday Very Low Tuesday Moderate Wednesday Moderate Further information bom.gov.au/cyclone Cr Peter Foster.
