Law Society of Kenya members meet to disccuss the controversial devolution Kenyan lawyers head to an annual retreat at which the critical issues affecting devolution will be addressed comprehensively. Devolution teething challenges have been in the news lately with a section of politicians among them Governors accusing the Jubilee Administration of frustrating devolution. The two-day Law Society of Kenya ( LSK) annual conference opens on August 15, at the Leisure Lodge Resort – Kilifi County. Deputy President William Ruto, Chief Justice Dr Willy Mutunga, Attorney General Prof. Githu Muigai, Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga and Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka are among the speakers lined up at the conference. The theme of the Annual Conference is Realising Devolution and Decentralisation Under The Constitution. Deputy President William Ruto will deliver the key note address while former Prime Minister Raila Odinga will present on Devolution in Kenya: Prospects, Challenges and the Future and Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka will present a paper entitled The Elusive Chase for Democratic Governance and the Promise of a Devolved Government. Kenyans will be watching keenly how the leaders navigate their stand points from two opposing positions as the country implements the devolved system of government in 47 counties
