Leadership says ‘Gaza Demands are the Demands of Entire Palestinian People’ RAMALLAH, July 23, 2014 (WAFA) – The Palestinian leadership said, in a statement Tuesday, that ‘Gaza’s demands’ for halting the ongoing Israeli aggression against it and lifting the siege imposed for years on it are ‘the demands of the entire Palestinian people.’ Shortly following a meeting headed by President Mahmoud Abbas in Ramallah, the leadership praised “the great steadfastness of our people” and “the brave resistance against the Occupation’s army that has continuously perpetrated massacres and crimes.” “All our people at home and abroad are standing solidly side by side with Gaza and its brave people, who bleed every hour in defense of the Palestinian land, the rights of the people, and the Palestinian national project,” the statement said. The statement ‘expressed confidence that Egypt, who has always been supportive to Palestine and a protector to its national project of freedom and independence, will continue its sponsorship of the Palestinian national unity, the ‘unity of decision’ and the Palestinian national stance in order to stop the bleeding of the heroic Gaza through the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression against it and through meeting its entire national demands so that Gaza can, once and for all, get rid of the siege imposed on it.’ The leadership called on all Palestinians to stand in support of “heroic Gaza and its brave resistance against the ‘army of aggression’ and its nonstop criminality.” Following is the full statement by the leadership: Tonight, the Palestinian leadership held an emergency meeting presided by President Mahmoud Abbas to examine the latest developments, regarding national action against the terrorist and criminal aggression carried out by Israel against our steadfast people in the courageous Gaza Strip. The leadership listened to President Abu Mazen’s statement at the beginning of the meeting, and expressed appreciation to efforts exerted internationally and regionally, and the intra-Palestinian talks with the leaders of Hamas and the Islamic Jihad movements. The leadership stressed the importance of continuing with these efforts and continuing with coordination and joint action at all levels, within the framework of upholding Palestinian national unity under the banner of the Palestine liberation Organization, our sole and legitimate representative. The leadership praised the great steadfastness of our people and the brave resistance against the Occupation’s army which continuously perpetrate massacres and crimes. The leadership confirmed that all our people at home and abroad are standing solidly side by side with ‘Gaza of Hashim’ and its brave people, who bleed every hour in defense of the Palestinian land, the rights of the people, and the Palestinian national project. The heroic Gaza is the defensive shield today; it proceeds forward to the front rows to protect our land and our sacred and constant goals of freedom, return, and independence. The leadership called upon the crowds of our great people to join the broadest popular movement to express our constant support of heroic Gaza, and its brave resistance against the army of aggression and its continuing criminality. We are confident that Gaza will not break given the support it enjoys from all our people and by all means. Consequently, the invaders shall be knowledgeable that all our great people in all their segments, factions and powers at home and abroad will not leave Gaza alone, and will not allow the criminal aggression to ‘single out’ Gaza. Furthermore, the leadership called for broadening the international campaign for solidarity with the steadfast and heroic Gaza, as well as called on all international organizations and bodies to condemn the crimes of the occupiers, and to diligently act to bring the leaders and those responsible for these crimes before international courts. The leadership called upon the whole world to reject the misleading Israeli occupation’s propaganda and the aggression aimed at hiding the collective crimes it perpetrates. The Palestinian leadership decided to promptly act to strengthen national unity under the banner of the Palestine Liberation Organization, as well as decided to call for an immediate meeting for the leaders of the Palestinian national action, to be held within the temporary framework of of the PLO in Cairo. The leadership assures its confidence that Egypt, which has always been supportive to Palestine and a protector to its national project of freedom and independence, will continue its sponsorship of the Palestinian national unity, the unity of decision and the Palestinian national stance, in order to stop the bleeding of the heroic Gaza. [This will be implemented] through the immediate cessation of the Israeli aggression against Gaza and through meeting its entire national demands so that Gaza can, once and for all, get rid of the siege imposed on it. The aggression on Gaza is part and parcel of a wrongful war against it and a destructive blockade surrounding it. The aggression, in all its forms, should be conquered, through solid Palestinian-Egyptian solidarity, an Arab unity of will, and through wide international support. ‘Gaza’s demands’ of stopping the aggression and lifting the siege in all its forms are the demands of all the Palestinians. [These demands] are the goal that the Palestinian leadership is utilizing all its powers to achieve. Every bereaved mother, every displaced child, every family whose house was destroyed, and every struggler standing in the ‘fields of honor’ in defense of his own people should be confident that we will raise the message of our people in Gaza, the message of freedom, curbing the aggression, and the message of safe living without an offensive invasion and a racial blockade against [Gaza] and all our people. The Palestinian leadership confirms that it will continue relentless work to build a solid national unity, thus the invaders will know that [they are facing] invincible people, who will never be defeated. Despite its wounds, the Gaza of Hashim will be victorious.
