Learn The Art of Zentangle® @ Library Program Thursday, March 13, 2014, 3:00 PM - 4:00 PM Explore a new form of creative expression when Fort Bend County Libraries’ Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch Library presents “The Art of Zentangle®” on Thursday, March 13, beginning at 3:00 pm, in the Meeting Room of the library, located at 8100 FM 359 South in Fulshear. Zentangle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, fun way to create beautiful images. Certified Zentangle Teacher (CZT) Shirl Hawes will demonstrate this drawing technique that consists of using pencil and pen to create abstract black-and-white art on a 3-1/2” square tile of high-quality paper. Sometimes confused with doodling, Zentangle is significantly different. Unlike the random drawings associated with doodling, Zentangle art utilizes intricate patterns (or tangles) to fill a specific space in a deliberate manner, mindfully considering such artistic elements as value (light to dark), depth, texture, and shading. The non-objective drawings do not contain recognizable objects, and there is no “right side up.” This form of art is often used for relaxation, stress or anxiety relief, brainstorming, and problem-solving, along with many other creative applications. This program is appropriate for individuals over the age of 10. Supplies will be provided for 15 students, but others may attend to observe. The program is free and open to the public. Seating is limited however, and reservations are required. To register online at the library’s website (fortbend.lib.tx.us), click on “Calendar,” select “Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch,” and find the program. Participants may also register by calling the library at 281-633-4675, or by visiting the library. Fort Bend County Libraries - Bob Lutts Fulshear/Simonton Branch 8100 FM 359 South Fulshear, TX 77441
