Lessons learned... 63 years ago I learned that if you wanted to keep your customers you needed to have a product people wanted, a friendly smile, and a marketing plan. In my case my dad was walking the picket lines while on strike and I would put up my Kool Aid stand next to the picket lines. A little sign saying "Ice Cold Lemonade" and then at lunch time I would bring out sandwiches with cold cuts. I would change the sign to say "Lunch Being Served". I made a lot of money at 5 cents a drink and 10 cents a sandwich. My little tussle with the StarTribune reminded me of what good customer service should be... for lack of a stamp or an email the StarTribune not only lost a customer but $332/yr.
