For myself, Im all over the place. For daily carry, I tend to have at least a 3 inch fixed blade and a locking folder. Not to mention the random small slip joints that find their way into the depths of my pocket. As far as style, I love a leaf-shaped blade with a bit of belly and a handle that I can get a full grip on in a variety of positions. I enjoy playing with different steels and grinds and have found the benefits in all of them. I dont get hung up on the names and numbers so much anymore. To me, its all about the heat treat and the grind. You can have the fanciest powdered super steel from Mars, but its junk without the proper heat treat. Regardless of the grind style, the geometry and way its executed will affect performance above most factors. I love a scandi grind for a woods knife. With folders, I tend to gravitate towards FFG and convex. Scott is a hunter, so a fixed blade to him is usually judged by how well it will dress and skin. Scott also loves custom handmade framelock folders. He generally prefers a sub 3.5 inch blade and he loves hand rubbed and hamon finishes.
